Cheap Travel

November 7th, 2009

We live in an age where the spirit of care free travel is almost extinct. Travelers these days are armed to the teeth with credit cards, travel insurance and Lonely Planet Guides. Yet it was not always so. For millennia pilgrims, bards and nomads have traveled the globe living only on their wits. From Jesus to Jack Kerouac travelers have hit the road with little more than the clothes on their back and embarked on amazing journeys.

So if you’re planning to trust in the gods and head off with just a few coins in your pocket the resources below will help you along your way.

It’s not always easy but travelers from Jesus to Jack Kerouac did it.

Millennia before the Lonely Planet claimed to show travelers how to ‘travel on a shoestring’, people had long been hitting the road with barely enough bread for that day. Whilst we now live in the age of consumer travel, the greater part of travel has always been hand-to-mouth and, in fact, continues to be so – ask any immigrant who just jumped the fence into the First World.

If it’s true that the best things in life come for free, it’s even more to the point that the best things in life can’t be sold. And if no one’s making a buck from passing on the info, you often won’t get to hear about it. Thus, leave it to the good-hearted folk at Road Junky to tell you how to travel for free.

We ought to point out, however, that whilst it is possible to travel the world without any money, it’s not necessarily all that much fun. There will be hard times and you’ll find yourself wondering just what you’re going to eat later that day. At the same time, once you hit rock bottom there’s a certain comfort in knowing that things can’t get much worse.

In fact, once you’ve got into the swing of traveling with no money, you may run the risk of becoming too proud. You’ll have crossed the barrier of fear that keeps most backpackers with one eye on their dwindling budget and only one eye for the road.

But hand to mouth travel is no better or worse than any other way of getting around the planet and you’ll have totally missed the point if you end up feeling superior about what a hardcore traveler you’ve become. Traveling without money is a humility trip.

We once heard that the best way to travel for free was to be a woman. That way everyone invited you to do stuff for free everywhere. The trick of course was to avoid the anticipated sex afterwards. Apparently the trick was to travel with another guy who could be a fake boyfriend when required.

Remember that travel is about give and take. If you travel hand to mouth then you will be receiving a lot of help and kindness from people along the way. Do your best to make sure you have something to give also, be it a song, a story or just lots of really positive energy.

Acne Program Step 12 Change The Way You Think

November 6th, 2009

Your thoughts have a lot to do with why you have acne. Most people will not even give this idea a single thought. You can get rid of acne without changing your way of thinking, but your thoughts will create some other illness that you might not see.

Most illnesses begin with the way you think, the way you are, or your basic philosophy. Your thoughts create chemicals that flow into your blood and affect the function of your entire body.

So if you have acne, it was created by the way you think. If you have ulcers, heart problems, or anything else, these were created by the way you think. Your thinking prevents you from eating and doing the things that you need to do to have good health or clear clean skin.

If you have acne or any disease, it is an opportunity for you to stop and think about why you have it. Acne is an expression of your thinking. Everything about you ? the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you dress, that way you eat, the diseases you come down with, the way you do everything ? originates in your thought process.

Here is one place to start your self-examination.

Start by being more accepting of yourself. What I have learned in the past is that no matter how much you put yourself down or how critical you are of yourself, it will not change the world around you. The world and you are still the same.

So, just get over it. Stop fighting who you are.

Accept yourself as you are and get on with the purpose of your life. Just get on with it. Don?t worry about what other people are thinking and doing. That?s their problem not yours.

You need to learn how to ?face yourself.? When you have acne you may not want to look at yourself and face who you are??

If you have acne, there is always some underlying emotions and feelings that are being expressed by your acne. Look into yourself and try to see what you are saying with your acne.

If you cannot find it, see if you can relate it to constipation. Constipation and a toxic colon is typically the cause of acne. But to go one-step further, all physical illness are created by some emotional unbalance that you are holding onto.

Acne can be a representation of repressed traumas that you have experienced as a child when you were growing up. I know you may not want to hear this. But, Acne can be an expression of those traumas trying to burst out of the repressive mechanisms that your body creates to prevent you from facing these traumas until you are ready to do so.

Some effort has to be make to connect and release these traumas, otherwise as you clear your face these traumas can move to some other parts of your body where they will be unseen and destroy tissue and body functions.

5 Tips to Choosing the Right Hotel Contact Furniture

November 5th, 2009

Too many hotel owners are focused on short term saving rather than long term profits. A bad choice in hotel contract furniture can damage the potential to gain and retain clients, meaning that all the money you spent in building and launching the hotel will be wasted. Although choosing hundreds of pieces of furniture may be a daunting prospect, and durability is one of the main factors in your choice, you cannot afford to sacrifice style just so you save a relatively small amount of money in the present.

Here are the top five tips to consider when choosing your hotel contract furniture to optimise the number of first time and returning visitors, as well as your profits.

1) Architecture is everything. It is more than likely the case if your hotel is housed in a building with some architectural concept. If it’s a graded building or has some historical features, decorate the interior of the hotel with corresponding furniture. Likewise, traditional furniture in a contemporary building will only confuse your guests.

2) Stick To A Theme. This point is similar to the first but concentrating solely on the interior decorating. If you have chosen to use classical furniture, use it throughout the hotel. Do not make the mistake of using classical furniture in the reception and then cheap, prototype furniture in the bedrooms. Guests will feel a sense of disappointment if the furniture in the reception is of a higher quality to their bedroom. Art Deco and contemporary furniture also work well in the varying rooms of a hotel.

3) Pictures Can Speak A Thousand Words. Brochures, newspapers and internet websites all contain pictures of the exterior and interior of the hotel. Even if the exterior of your hotel is palatial, pictures of cheap and poorly designed rooms will only work to turn customers away from your establishment. Choosing badly designed furniture will prevent you from booking guests. Likewise, if you use attractive furniture in your advertising and poor furniture throughout your hotel, people who do visit once will not return!

4) Make The Most Of The Services You Offer. Hotel bars and restaurants can make huge amounts of money, attracting patrons from inside and outside the hotel. That is of course, only if you have a well designed, comfortable and enticing area. Making a design statement with your bar or restaurant can earn you interest from a number of parties. Hotel reviewers, restaurant critics and lifestyle magazines all comment on the atmosphere in which they have eaten their food or enjoyed a cocktail. A feature from one of these industry professionals can give you a reputation that will attract non-hotel visitors and your profits will soar.

5) If In Doubt Ask The Experts. If you still have no idea where to begin when choosing the furniture for your hotel, take advantage of the services that a number of the best furniture suppliers offer. They can send you samples, visit you with a moving showroom and provide you with a personal designer to help you plan your design. Choosing a supplier with years of experience in the hotel contract furniture industry is the best choice that any design conscious hotel owner could make.

5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Going to Argentina

November 2nd, 2009

If you’re traveling to Argentina you’ll most likely stop in Buenos Aires, which is by most accounts a very safe city, and local police keep it that way by actively patrolling all tourist areas. Violent crime is extremely rare, and smaller towns in Argentina are even safer than Buenos Aires.

Nevertheless, it is important to remember there are always pickpockets in tourist areas on the lookout for easy prey. Always protect your valuables and keep your passport and tickets in a safe at your hotel. The Buenos Aires barrio of La Boca, just a few blocks away from the famous street Caminito, has seen a number of thefts lately. Take special care when you’re in this area.

We know there is a lot to read before going to Argentina so we asked our friends in the adventure travel space to give us some tips on what they wish they knew before they went to Argentina. Have a read below, we hope it helps and please feel free to add your own suggestions to the comments section below.

1. Carry Change.

Check your 100 peso note BEFORE giving it to the shop assistant – they can claim it was counterfeit and give you back the counterfeit! Also, coins are like gold. It’s hard to get change anywhere and you can’t take a bus without coins! Mat Lewis, i-to-i

2. Avoid demonstrations.

They happen all too regularly in Buenos Aires and occasionally can get a bit violent. Agustina Marmol, Dolomite Mountains

3. Know Your Bearings.

Always know where you are on the map. Buenos Aires is the kind of place where fancier, tourist-friendly neighborhoods are directly adjacent to some rough spots. Josh Steinitz, NileGuide

4. Take Taxis at Night.

Buenos Aires is safe for women traveling and sightseeing alone, but you should be aware that the men there will whistle at you when you pass by, and comment on your looks. During the night it’s better to take a taxi to where you are headed instead of walking the streets alone, that applies if you are travelling alone or not, especially for La Boca area. Antonija, GeckoGo

5. Beware of Dogs.

There are large packs of dogs hanging around some of the bus stations, so beware. Most of the time they won’t bother you but it’s always better to travel with a friend, power in numbers. Christina Tunnah, WorldNomads
